These patterns occur in the two side alcoves, east and west, at the north end of the Patio de los Arrayanes, three mosaic panels in each alcove. Six colours are used for the tiles - white, black, blue, green, brown and purple, in complex colour patterns. In some panels the colours are arranged in lozenge-shaped areas, in others in oblique multicoloured stripes. The graphic uses only three colours and does not attempt to show any of the true colour patterns. A similar curvilinear pattern occurs, without the small hexagons or 6-stars, as a mosaic dado round the back of the smaller, east bench recess in the rest room of the Royal Baths.
