Alhambra, Patio de los Arrayanes

A wooden ceiling over the small exit porch into the Patio de los Arrayanes, at the north end of its west wall. This porch forms the last part of the corridor connecting the Patio del Mexuar with the Patio de los Arrayanes. There were once doors closing this exit, as can be seen from post holes at the outer corners of the ceiling. See also related pattern Granada Museum.
Geometry
- The symmetry group of the tiling is *442 (p4m).
- All the internal angles of the constituent polygons are a multiple of 45°.
- Contains three regular 8-pointed star polygons with vertex angle of 90°.
- There are 6 non-regular reflective tiles (including one kite).
- The tiling satisfies the interlace condition and has one finite interlace and no infinite interlace with straight cross-overs.
- The tiling is edge-to-edge.
- As drawn, contains about 259 polygons.
