Changes in Version 40
Relatively few pattern additions this time - the main work has been on consolidation. Also work has been undertaking in writing a book giving more information about Islamic tiling patterns.
A major planned addition is continuing to add dates to those Islamic patterns for which information is available. for details see Dates of Islamic patterns. Also, the references to a pattern are now ordered giving the ones with the earliest date first. From an example, see Bourgoin, Plate 67.
Pattern additions
A total of 16 new patterns have been added including:
- The pattern Sikranda, India has a non-regular 5-star added to the existing 5-stars in the common design in
Bourgoin, Plate 48. The method of making this addition means that the angles of the pattern are not all simple fractions of 180°.
- Most of the other additions are also from India including three two-level patterns:
A large number of small changes have been made including making the spelling of
Fatehpur Sikri consistent (with agreed modern usage). An error has been corrected with the reference which is now [degeorge2].
